The plane ride was not that pleasent - extremely hot and humid, conditions I haven't encountered on a plane before. It was also filled to capacity with senior citizens from Kentucky on a tour. I couldn't sleep on the plane, so I haven't really slept in over 24 hours.
Customs was a little strange - it appeared to be entirely unmanned, with some forms and boxes on a desk if you had anything to declare. I guess they're on the honor system.
The train ride from Gatwick was fun - zipping past fields full of sheep at the beginning, and then watching as the area gradually became more and more built up.
The subway system was a little overwealming to deal with at first, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.
After we checked in at the hostel, we spent most of today just wandering around, so that I can get an overview of the city, and how it is layed out. The feeling of being seriously out of my element is starting to pass, and it looks like this is going to be a fun trip!
